We hopped a subway to eat pizza in Brooklyn with Jen, Jake, Jackson, and Sydney. It was a very soggy hour long wait. Jen was smart enough to get a place in line while Jake met us at the Subway. We walked around for awhile while Jen continued waiting in the rain. Here are a few pictures from that outing.

NYC locals recommended "Duke's Restaurant" last spring when we were in New York and since we couldn't check it out last time, I made sure to check it out this trip! We figured it would be a fun Birthday Lunch for Elise (it was her 21st birthday!).
Jen and Jake got a baby sitter and joined us at Duke's AND also went with us to see Monty Python's Spamalot--The Musical.
Duke's serves comfort food in HUGE portions. Brooke got a plate of ribs to share with everyone (Greg said they were some of the best ribs he's eaten).
Jake ended up sitting near an autographed picture of Donny and Marie from WAYYYYY back.
The food was excellent. I would definitely go back!

Greg took this picture of us in Rockefeller Center in front of the HUGE Christmas tree. We've been having fun going to Broadway musicals (Wicked, Spamalot, and Young Frankenstein), shopping, eating, and of course hanging out with Jen, Jake, Jackson, and Sydney.

I was so proud of Brent (#1) this year. He was a really good example. He and his other LDS friends Hayden Schapp (#9), and Terrance Motley (#73) got together before each football game and took turns presenting spiritual devotionals in the football locker room.
Their teammates seemed to respect that they put our Heavenly Father before football. We had this picture taken of them in their uniforms with their copies of the Book of Mormon each of them kept in the football lockers.

Brent was honored at the All-Metro Banquet for academics and got an honorable mention for the All-Metro Team (not bad for only having 13 receptions for 324 yards during the whole season).
His stats were 2nd best on the team after his good friend Brandon Simpson (who got the ball thrown to him a lot more). It was hard for our receivers and running backs to pad their stats because Cibola blew out so many teams during the season. Brent and the other 1st stringers played less than two quarters in more than half their games because the coach wanted to give the other players experience.
Brent's overall stats were:
13 Receptions for 324 yards. His average was 24.9 yards per catch. His longest was a 60 yarder. He had 5 touchdowns and averaged 29.5 receiving yards per game.
Brent was around 13th in total receiving yards in the state (before the playoffs--he probably moved up but the newspaper doesn't count those stats). Our team really shared the ball a lot and was known more as a running team.
We are proud of Brent's accomplishments!
I'm posting a picture of some of his teammates who were also honored at the banquet with head coach, Ralph "Judge" Chavez (btw...first on the left is Jon Mader, Cibola's quarterback who won Player of the Year).

This was Greg's last hurrah as Cibola Football Booster Club President. He made sure the banquet was cut from 4 hours down to less than 3! People were very happy about that.
I'm including some pictures from the banquet. The first is of Greg getting ready to conduct. The second is of Brooke and Candace. The last picture is of Brent with some of his football buddies.

Okay...I know that everyone has seen their family and friends "elfed" over and over again...but here's OUR version (so sorry to Brian and Elise for not including them...you can only make four elves):

Brooke made the "A" basketball team as a 7th grader. Her team went UNDEFEATED (and pretty much blew people away in most of their games). We had a nice time at their banquet which was held at Dion's Pizza December 5, 2007. Here are pictures of Brooke with Coaches Jerome and Isaac. The other picture is of the LBJ Lady Coyotes.

Brent's team fell short again this year in the state football playoffs. Cibola had their chances to win the game but just made too many mistakes (penalties!).
The fans SUFFERED through a miserable night of rain as we cheered on our team. I wonder how we would have done if it hadn't rained(?) Brent did well. He had a nice 51-yard reception that put us into scoring position.
Well, we still have boys track this spring where the Cougars have a great chance of winning state.
