We are very excited about Brent's mission and opportunity to go to the temple. Here are some pictures from our wonderful day. I'm also including a video of him reading his missionary call...
And now to where Brent has been called to serve...
My first thought when Brent got to the part of where he was serving, was that he was messing with us (his Uncle Matt and Aunt Jana live in that mission's boundaries) LOL.
Another funny thing...Brent had stopped reading his letter after the part where it told "where" he would be serving. Family friend, Mellisa Motley had noticed passport papers in his stack of papers about 5 or 10 minutes afterwards and went up to Brent and said, "Brent, I think you better finish reading your letter. I think you may have missed something..." (She had seen another relative stop reading their letter and knew from experience that Brent should probably continue reading). Brent picked up his letter and read:
"You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language. Your assignment may be modified according to the needs of the mission president."
Greg and I both had our prayers answered. I was hoping for a United States mission and Greg was hoping for a Spanish speaking one (Greg served his mission in Houston-Spanish speaking, while waiting for his Visa to go to Spain, where he finished his mission).
The Minnesota Minneapolis Mission covers many areas: most of Minnesota, a bit of Canada (hence the need for a passport), a tiny portion of Michigan, part of Wisconsin, and a small portion of Iowa.
He really wanted to take out his endowments at the Albuquerque Temple so we went that very evening. Here are a few pictures after our visit to the temple...
Some of Brent's friends were able to come to our house to hear the news. A bunch of our family members and friends also watched it LIVE online.

Brent went through the temple that evening to take out his endowments.
Brooke and Andrea did baptisms with the Schaap family while we were in our session.
Here we all are (windblown) after our time at the temple.

Andrea is proud of her cousin Brent.
