LBJ Middle School held it's track banquet Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Village Pizza in Corrales, NM. This is Brooke's very last banquet with LBJ as she will be off to compete for Volcano Vista High School next year in volleyball and track. As of now, she does not intend to play basketball and chooses to concentrate on her two other sports.
She received ribbons and medals from the district and all-city meets during the banquet. As reported in a previous post, she came in first in long jump, the 4x100 relay, and the 4x200 relay at the District meet. LBJ came in FIRST PLACE in the district!
Both of her relay teams came in 2nd at the All-City meet and she tied for 1st in the long jump with her teammate Gabby but was told that she was awarded 2nd place because she had scratched her first jump. That is not how long jump is decided (there is usually a jump off as I recall), but she was okay knowing she did her very best!
